About Sylhet

Sylhet is a city in Northeastern Bangladesh.It is one of the division of Bangladesh The city is located on the right bank of the Surma river.The city has a population of more than half a million.Sylhet is one of Bangladesh's most important spiritual and cultural sectors. It is one of the most important cities of Bangladesh, after Dhaka (Capital city of Bangladesh) and Chittagong due to its importance to the country's economy.Mainly Sylhet produces the maximum amount of tea and gas in the country.

 

Why people visit Sylhet?


Each and every expanse of Bangladesh is greenery, but none can compare with Sylhet.

Some places that one must visit:

Sreemongol:

Anyone traveling in and around Sreemongol is sure to be greeted by lush green tea gardens.It stretch over miles and miles of hilly areas.Also will have a look of different shading trees besides the pineapple and lemon gardens.



Just outside of BTRI is Neelkantha Tea Cabin – a fabulous tea stall and another attraction of Sreemongol where tea gardener sells tea of a variety of colors and flavors,which is really famous of Sylhet.

Ratargul Swamp Forest:

 

 In winter this swampland is inhabited by migratory as well as local birds.





A dense forest with mostly native Hijol and Koroch trees.It offers an alter for different species of birds, monkeys, snakes and other reptiles.As a matter of fact the best time to visit this Swamp Forest is early in the morning or early in the evening during the rainy season.

Bisanakhandi: 

 

This is where many layers of the mountain meet at a single point from both sides.Moreover adding to its charm are dark clouds hugging the mountain in the rainy season.People like to seat on the stones and capture photos here.


Jaflong:


One have to visit Jaflong in the rainy season to see the real beauty of the falls from the lush green mountains,what gives pleasure to see.

Some places that I want to visit:


Lalakhal:





A visitor can experience the view of green water river, range of mountain and Tea Garden- at once in Lalakhal.

Tangour Haor: 

 

It is called home to a diverse range of birds.



Here are a total of 51 species of birds. Besides rare species of eagles and large grey king storks from among the migratory birds.



The swampland is inhabited by numerous local species of birds including vultures, seagulls and cranes.In addition to six species of mammals, four species of snakes and others are available here.


Lawachera:

 


This forest is a sanctuary for rare species of plants and animals.That includes hoolok gibbon, phayre’s langur,other species of snakes including pythons, in addition to parrots, magpies and many other birds.

Almost 200 types of trees are there.Moreover to a variety of species of apes and deer, 24 species of mammals, 18 species of reptiles and 150 types of birds are found there.

My Personal Experience:

Sylhet is a place where almighty gave a lot of blessing in Bangladesh.Whenever our monotonous life make us frustrated these all places can play a significant role in mind change.People like to visit them with their family and friends.I still remember some of the places that I visited.Some fishes of there were really tasty as food.People like to take pictures to capture their moments with beautiful sights.I had tasted colorful tea last time.Actually I was a kid ,when I visited these places.Now I really wish to visit them again.
